  Definitions

(most are related and interchangeable)

Alternative Health / Complementary and Alternative Medicine:

Alternative Health or Medicine refers to the many alternative approaches to health and healing outside traditional health care and medicine. Examples of alternative approaches include Naturopathy, Chiropractics, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Colon Therapy, Holistic Nutrition, Biblical Medicine, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, etc.

Traditional Naturopathy:

Naturopathy does not undertake to “diagnose” or “treat diseases,” but rather recognizes that the majority of sub-health conditions are cumulative lifestyle effects, and that the underlying cause of what we call “disease” (or, “dis-ease”) is improper diet, unhealthy habits, and environmental factors which cause biological imbalances leading to a weakening of the bodies’ natural defenses and subsequent breakdown in health.

Traditional Naturopaths guide and teach their client in natural health approaches such as fasting and detoxification, dietary improvements, the use of herbs, hot baths, aromatherapy, exercise, rest, sunshine, and many other natural health modalities.

Integrative Wellness:

Integrative wellness is healing-oriented therapy that takes into account the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It makes use of many natural assessment tools and appropriate holistic wellness therapies.

Longevity Medicine:

Longevity medicine is a developing field focused on extending the healthy period of human life. It employs a proactive, science-based approach to prevent and delay age-related health issues. This field integrates advancements in genetics, nutrition, and technology to improve vitality throughout life, shifting from treating illnesses to actively maintaining health and functional capacity.

Longevity medicine distinguishes itself from conventional medical practices through a fundamental shift in philosophy. While traditional medicine often operates reactively, addressing diseases after they manifest, longevity medicine adopts a proactive stance. It concentrates on preventing illnesses and optimizing overall health before problems arise. This approach seeks to understand aging’s biological processes to slow them down, reducing the likelihood of chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders.

A central concept is increasing “healthspan,” the years an individual lives in good health and with full functional capacity. While “lifespan” measures total years lived, longevity medicine prioritizes the quality of those years, aiming for them to be productive and vibrant. By targeting the root causes of age-related decline, this practice narrows the gap between an extended lifespan and a healthy, active existence, allowing individuals to maintain strength, autonomy, and engagement into older age.

Natural Health:

Natural health is a self-care system of natural therapies that builds and restores health and wellness by working with the natural recuperative powers of the human body.

Wholistic / Wholiopathic Medicine:

Wholistic Medicine is True Medicine. It is biblically based remedies for the spirit , soul, and body. Mankind is a three dimensional being who is spirit, possesses a soul (mind, will, emotions) and lives in a body. Wholistic Medicine has a wholistic (whole) effect on the three parts of mankind. It produces wholistic wellness (wholeness). Some bible sanctioned wholistic medicine approaches are: Fasting and Detoxification, Natural Diet and Hygiene, Herbal Therapy and Natural Supplements, Sunshine and Exercise, Prayer and the Meditation of God’s Word, Praise and Worship, Biblical Counseling & Sanctification, and much more.

The Main Branches of Wholistic Medicine are:

Wholiopathy (bible-based, spirit-soul-body wellness approaches to issues) , Wholistic Nutrition, Wholistic Herbal Medicine, Wholistic Naturopathy, Biblical Counseling, Prayer and Fasting, Wholistic Detoxification.

Biblical Studies:

Studying the 66 books of the Bible and related topics.

Earn an award based on life, work, and prior learning assessment
